Health disparities is when some groups of people have higher rates of certain diseases, and more deaths and suffering from them, compared to others. Health disparities between different racial or ethnic groups are caused by differences in genetic factors, environments or health behaviors. Minority populations often have higher rates of chronic disease. Also Some diseases are more common among women than men. Conditions more common in women are chronic condition and depression. And men are more like to die of diabetes, heart attack diseases or cancer. For example african americans are death rates of three major diseases ( diabetes, heart disease and cancer) while white have the least. One things that i learn from Kathy Briant’s presentation she is trying to reduce health disparities of Latino/Hispanic farmers in Yakima.
