Throughout my time in Explorers over the past two weeks the highlight has to be the discussion concerning ethics. I think that entire topic and discussion was very interesting to me as it made me look at science in a different way. It brought up a new perspective to the research aspect of it. When we were discussing the meaning of ethics and its correlation to research in break out rooms. It was so interesting to hear the various opinions and sides of it from different people. So overall I think that was definitely the highlight of my time in Explorers content wise!

For the study portion I chose “researchers pinpoint ‘correlates of protection’ for Moderna vaccine.” The concept behind this is to try to speed up the vaccine efficiency for future vaccines and research through the COVID 19 vaccine. They are doing so by using four tests using blood samples from trials. Even though the follow up will be hard as the marker trials aren’t allowed unless approved by the FDA, this is still a very important and efficient thing to do to better help the outcomes of future vaccines and studies.
