Elisa (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) Test
The Elisa test is used to detect and measure the different antigens in the blood by color change. In this lab, we used the Elisa protocol to determine the type of breast cancer, and the most effective treatment for the patient by using a processed sample of the patient’s Tumor.
Our lab results were successful. We were able to determine that this patient had Luminal A breast cancer, because they had a positive charge for HR and a negative charge for HER2, meaning they would be given hormone therapy, because Luminal A was not an aggressive cancer.
This particular lab made a significant impression on me, because it was very cool to have the opportunity to test a patient sample with the needed science, to be able to figure out the particular type of Breast cancer a patient would be diagnosed with, and also be able to determine the needed treatment the patient would receive.
