There are many things that contribute to the disparities between the different communities when it comes to health. While visiting the office of the Public Health Sciences, we learned about a few in which they focus on. One main health inequality is that certain population groups do not benefit from the same health status as other groups. Although this issue is prevalent globally, the workers decided to help the Latino community in the city of Yakima.

Latinos, especially in the Yakima community, have the lowest percentages for cancer screenings. So, Casper, The Colon was created in order to try to help combat the percentages to help raise awareness on the importance of colon cancer.

Many people do not have the right resources or the education to know when to get medical attention so, Casper served as a way to help members of the community understand the signs and importance of cancer in the colon. This presentation stood out to me because as a Latina, it is important to be socially aware of the siginificant cancers that affect our community.
